Theatre Plays — Per-Performance Licensing

These plays are licensed for live public theatre performance on a per-performance basis.

Each licence grants permission to stage one (1) live performance of the selected play by Samildanach Arts, at a named venue and date, whether ticketed or non-ticketed.

This category is intended for theatre companies, festivals, arts centres, youth theatres, and independent producers seeking clear, fair, and flexible performance rights.

What a Per-Performance Licence Includes

  • Permission for one live public performance

  • Performance at a specified venue (theatre, arts centre, festival space, licensed venue)

  • Ticket sales permitted, with pricing set by the producing company or venue

  • Use of the script for rehearsal and performance purposes only

  • Expandable casting, doubling, and ensemble flexibility

  • Suitable for professional, semi-professional, and community theatre

Each additional performance requires a separate licence.

Ticket Sales & Box Office

  • Ticket pricing is determined locally by the producer or venue

  • No minimum or maximum audience size is imposed

  • Box office arrangements are managed directly by the venue or producing company

  • Where applicable, royalties are calculated per performance, not per ticket

This structure ensures the licence is fair for both small venues and larger houses.

What Is Not Included

  • Touring or multi-date runs under a single licence

  • Recording, filming, livestreaming, or broadcast

  • Transfer of the licence to another venue or producing company

  • Script alteration beyond permitted staging flexibility

Licensing Clarity

All theatre licences are:

  • Performance-specific

  • Venue-specific

  • Date-specific

  • Issued in writing following purchase
