About Samildanach Arts
Lugh Samildánach is a pen name inspired by the Celtic figure of the same name — the master of many arts.
Samildanach Arts distributes licensed educational resources for schools that sit at the intersection of creative practice, governance, and risk-aware design.
The work includes plays, planning frameworks, and school support tools. All outputs are unified by a single design aim: to support schools without increasing pressure, exposure, or obligation.
The approach behind Samildanach Arts is informed by experience across Irish education, governance, and risk-based professional practice, combined with long-standing creative work.
This perspective recognises schools as high-trust, high-pressure environments where well-intended systems can unintentionally cause harm if they introduce surveillance, escalation, performative compliance, or blurred responsibility.
These resources are designed to lower risk, not add it.
Core Philosophy
Preserve ethics first.
Interpret procedural defensibility later.
Schools are trusted to act ethically without surveillance.
This principle underpins every resource we licence.
Schools do not need more programmes, initiatives, or compliance layers.
They need permission structures that protect professional judgement, pupil dignity, and wellbeing — especially under pressure.
What These Resources Are
These resources are:
-
optional governance and support resources
-
designed to sit alongside existing practice
-
usable in full, in part, or not at all
-
safe to pause, adapt, or stand down
-
intended to reduce escalation, not drive implementation
If nothing is done with these resources, nothing happens.
This is intentional.
What These Resources Are Not
These resources are not:
-
curricula
-
programmes
-
methodologies
-
assessments
-
monitoring tools
-
performance or accountability systems
They do not require rollout, tracking, reporting, or justification.
Ethics, Autonomy & Safeguarding
All resources are licensed, not sold outright, because context matters.
Licensing exists to:
-
protect pupils and staff
-
preserve teacher autonomy
-
prevent reputational or coercive misuse
-
ensure ethical conditions are upheld
Schools retain full control over:
-
whether a resource is used
-
how it is used
-
who uses it
-
when it is paused or discontinued
No school names are used in marketing.
No usage is monitored.
No data is collected.
Confidentiality & Non-Monitoring
All licences operate alongside a Confidentiality and Non-Monitoring Agreement.
This guarantees:
-
no monitoring, auditing, or oversight
-
no reporting requirements
-
no access to staff, pupils, records, or planning
-
no promotional attribution or case studies
The agreement exists to protect schools, not the provider.

Ethical Licence Conditions
(Read before proceeding)
Samildanach Arts licences are issued only where the following conditions are accepted:
-
Accountability is personal.
The school’s named accountability leader carries responsibility for ethical decision-making. Responsibility is not delegated to policy, procedure, or committee. -
Ethical decisions must be owned honestly.
Where a decision is made in good faith and with professional judgement, a Samildanach Arts resource may be used to help explain that decision — but not to disguise, defer, or avoid responsibility. -
Misuse ends continuation.
Where a resource is used to justify inaction, avoidance, or abdication of professional duty, no further licence will be issued. There is no public dispute or appeal.
These conditions exist to protect pupils first, and the integrity of the work as a whole.
Licensing
Licences permit internal, school-controlled use of the materials for the agreed term.
-
no monitoring or reporting is required
-
no implementation is expected
-
no outcomes are claimed or measured
Samildanach Arts licences resources for internal school use where ethical practice, professional autonomy, and pupil wellbeing can be reasonably upheld.
In rare cases, a licence may be declined or not renewed if these conditions cannot be met.
Refusal Is Part of the Model
Samildanach Arts may decline to licence, renew, or continue engagement where ethical conditions are not met.
This is not punitive.
It is preventative.
Refusal is quiet, private, and final.
Why This Exists
Most educational harm does not come from bad intent.
It comes from systems that escalate pressure, remove choice, or blur responsibility.
Samildanach Arts exists to offer an alternative:
-
resources that can be held without obligation
-
used without exposure
-
and set aside without consequence
Samildanach Arts does not ask schools to change who they are.
It exists to make it safer to act ethically first, when it matters most.
